Joe Biden reacted with fury after a 345-page Justice Department report on his mishandling of classified documents questioned his mental faculties, railing at special counsel Robert Hur and members of the press for questioning his memory. He then proceeded to confuse the presidents of Mexico and Egypt.
“My memory is fine,” Biden insisted, refusing to accept Hur’s assessment that his memory had shown “significant limitations” during an investigatory interview. Hur noted in his report that the 81-year-old Democrat “did not remember when he was vice president” and “did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died.”
“How in the hell dare he raise that!” Biden said of the latter observation. Beau Biden died in 2015.
Fielding questions from the press, Biden shouted at reporters who pressed him on public concerns over his mental and physical fitness. Referring to Hur’s recommendation that he should not be charged because a jury, like the Justice Department, would see him as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” Biden seethed: “I’m well-meaning, and I’m an elderly man, and I know what the hell I’m doing.”
Shortly afterward, however, he described General Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the President of Egypt, as “the President of Mexico,” suggesting he should be given credit for persuading Mexico to “open up the gate to allow humanitarian material” into Gaza during the Israel-Hamas war.
This follows Joe Biden claiming he spoke to Francois Mitterand of France and Helmut Kohl of Germany about January 6th at a G7 meeting in 2021. Neither have governed their countries since the 1990s, and both have been dead for many years.
